Sardine is the second biggest island in the Mediterranean, the eight in Europe and the 48 the world. This island is placed in the centre of the occidental Mediterranean between Corsica at the north, islands which separate the Bonifacio Strait, Tunez in the south, Italia at the east and the Balearic Islands at the West. It has a surface on 24 090 km2, a similar area to Valencia. The isle, contrary to Sicilia and the italic Peninsula does not have any seismic risk. More than the 80% of the territory is formed by mountains and hills, and the highest one is Punta la Mármora (1834m.) on the Gennargentu Mountains, placed at the oriental part of the island. In Sardine there are 1849 km. of coast with lots of beaches, some of them the most beautiful of the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean weather predominates in the island, although it is a bit more severe on the interior. There are near 300 sunny days every year. The major part of the population lives in the coastal zone, where the winters are soft thanks to the sea presence, with only a few snows, and the summers are hot and dry.
First Day: Flight to Sardine.
Check-in at your airport before the departure time of your flight to Olbia. On arrival, pick up the rental car you will use throughout the week and head towards the booked accommodation. You will dispose from the rental car during all the week to move at your will and discover the zone. First night in Sardine.
Intermediate Days: Sardine.
You dispose of these complete days to visit Sardine with your own vehicle and discover its sandy beaches, with blue and emerald green waters. Visit the north coast on your own and discover the hidden beaches and cliffs in the Paradise Coast, where the wind has sculpted strange forms on the walls. The Li Cossi beach is one of the most famous. Sassari and Cagliari are the mayor cities, but you shouldn’t forget visiting Alghero, where the architecture will teleport you to its medieval past, in common with all the territories that formed part of Aragon Crown. Sassari, the second biggest city of the island, is placed in a 225m high tableland and still conserves fractions of the Aragonese walls that protects its narrow streets.
Last Day: Return to Olbia.
You must return the rental car at the airport in Olbia about 120 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your flight back home. Flight back to your home airport. Arrival and end of the trip.
