Crossed entirely by the Rhone on its way Alpine heights of Lake Geneva, is the southern Alpine Valais in Switzerland. And in the Swiss canton find some of the most spectacular mountains and glaciers of Europe, known as Cervino (Matterhorn), Monte Rosa or mythical Alpine passes as St. Bernards or Simplon.
And yet, in the lower parts of the Valais there are orchards and vineyards. The reason? The Valais boasts an enviable weather with over 300 days of sunshine. It is so easy to take stunning pictures of blue skies and wonderful landscapes in the Valais.
It is an ideal setting for a mountain holiday, walking, hiking, mountain biking or simply traveling by car, train or cable car highland the many alpine scenic routes. The Valais has always been a place of passage, alpine crossing, which has meant that it is a region with a long history and a rich cultural heritage to discover. During your stay we suggest you visit:
Sion and Herens Valley: The historic city of Valais, with magnificent views from its old churches and walls.
Zermatt: The most famous town in the Alps, pedestrian (only accessible by train) is at the foot of the Matterhorn and has spectacular cable cars and zippers.
Forclaz and Emosson Road: From Emosson, a small train and the world's steepest funicular have the best views of Mont Blanc.
Route 4 Port: The Road through the Valley of Goms you close to glaciers and is the access point to wonderful mountain passes as the Furka and Susten.
Interlaken: In the neighboring canton of Berner Oberland but very quick access into self-train. It’s a city between two lakes at the foot of the Jungfrau massif and its famous train.
Sierre and Zinal: The Road to Zinal, by the Val d'Anniviers, to discover one of the most beautiful valleys of the Alps, with numerous hiking and beautiful villages.
Day 1: Fly to Geneva.
Check-in at your home airport 90 minutes before the designated departure time of your flight to Switzerland. On arrival, pick up the rental car at the airport to head to the booked accommodation in the Valais. According to the chosen accommodation, it will be between two and three hours from the airport. Check-in at the booked accommodation and first night in Switzerland.
Day 2-7: Holiday in the Valais.
You have 6 days to enjoy the Valais. A holiday in the Swiss Alps are, above all, guaranteed to enjoy amazing landscapes of high mountain glaciers, peaks, mountain passes, waterfall, alpine villages, etc.. You can enjoy all this in the Valais either hiking, walking, mountain bike, cog railway or cable car. You can do whatever you want in the Valais! Of course there are also historical cities, ancient traditions and rich cuisine highland to discover. In total you will spend 7 nights in the Valais.
Day 8: Return home.
Approximately 120 minutes before scheduled departure time returning the rental car at the airport of Geneva. Billing and your flight back home from Geneva airport. Arrival and end of the trip.
