The Olympia World ski pass includes 9 different ski resorts connected by a free ski bus. In Innsbruck itself slopes are at Nordpark, an imposing 1400 m vertical, with one of the toughest runs in the Alps. It is accessed from the very city center with an amazing funicular cable-car is mainly a free-ride station. In the city outskirts is Igls (Patscherkopfl), the famous home of the Olympic downhill, with only a couple of tracks but of excellent quality, and with over 1300 m. of vertical. Also nearby, in Tulfes, there are the Glungezer long tracks, with beautiful views and ideal for the average skier and families. Axamer Lizum, the other Olympic ski area is about 10 km from the city and offers varied runs of excellent quality and very good snow quality. Near Axams, in Mutters, is Muttereralm, a family resort with gentle tree-lined slopes that link to Axamer Lizum. At the entrance of the Stubai valley, in the village of Fulpmes, Schlick 2000 with short but very nice and varied runs offers good snow conditions. The crown jewel is the Stubai Glacier, one of the best of its kind in the world where skiing is also possible in summer. So in winter, the snow conditions are always outstanding. Stubai offers about 100 km of slopes, mostly fabulous red and blue runs with a vertical of nearly 1000 meters and excellent fast and eficient lifts. A little bit further, Rangger Köpfl is famous for its vistas of the Inn Valley and Kühtai (with a base at 2020 m. height) has excellent snow conditions and the longest season in Austria without glacier. Innsbruck is not a village, but a city of over 100,000 inhabitants, with a beautiful medieval old town and dozens of attractions and activities that can not be offered by any ski resort. But those looking for the countryside and the typical villages of Tyrol, Innsbruck is also an ideal destination. Since the city is surrounded by pretty villages that are between 3 and 10 km. away including Axams, Igls, Götzens, Natters and Mutters. You can stay in the holiday villages and combine the possibilities of Innsbruck with the charm of a small countryside village.
