Your itinerary

Day 1: Flight to Venice.

Arrive at the airport ninety minutes before the scheduled take-off time of your flight to Venice. On arrival, pick up your hire car to travel towards the Po Delta. On the way, and depending on the time you have, stop in Chioggia, located at the southern end of the lagoon. The historical centre is very similar to that of Venice with its canals and bridges. You arrive at your accommodation in the Po Delta for your entire stay. (Route approx. 125 km).

Day 2: Ferrara.

Although Ferrara stands out as an important medieval centre, what is most admired by today's visitors is the geometric street layout from the Renaissance period, and for this reason Ferrara is known as the "city of the Renaissance". Splendid palaces, churches, houses and gardens are all round the city and it is a delight to discover them on a pleasant stroll. You can also walk along the walls surrounding Ferrara, nine kilometres around the historical centre, on foot or by bike. You will discover turrets, bastions and gates in what has today become an enormous garden with immense wooded areas and meadows. Spend the night in the Po Delta. (Route of approx. 120 km).

Day 3: and La Salina.

Today we suggest that you visit the town of Comacchio, known as little Venice as it is full of canals. Discover the Trepponti, a bridge with five flights of steps, the 17th-century Fish Market and the Museo de la Nave Romana. And don't forget to taste the typical dish, eels, which you can find cooked in a total of forty-eight different ways in the restaurants overlooking the canals of the city. You can also take a look at La Salina di Comacchio, a landscape of impressive beauty where fish and birds live within a conservation project. There are boats which will take you to the area and explain interesting data on the area and its fauna. Spend the night in the Po Delta. (Route by car of approx. 30 km).

Day 4: The Oasis of Campotto.

The Valli di Campotto make up an enormous natural park in which the marshy terrain typical of the Po Valley has been conserved. You can see marvelous landscapes of white water-lilies, elmwoods, poplars and willows and all kinds of birds (white storks, wild geese, cormorants, herons and many other migratory birds) and observe the other inhabitants (hares, badgers, tortoises, frogs, etc). You can also visit the Argenta Eco-Museum, which is divided into three parts: the Museum of Drainage, the Civic Museum and the Museum of the Valleys of Argenta. Spend the night in the Po Delta. (Route by car of approx. 120 km).

Day 5: Bicycle route along the Po.

There are a number of routes which can be done by bicycle which will take you into the most authentic landscapes of the region. Such as the route along the right-hand bank of the Po, known as "Destra Po", an extraordinary itinerary of over 120 km in total. The route can be divided into a number of sections and you can discover such authentic locations as Bodeno, a village with rich gastronomical traditions; the Oasis dell'Isola Bianca, one of the oldest river islands on the Po; the broad agricultural spaces of the south of Berra; and the ports of Goro and Gorina, important fishing ports in the Upper Adriatic and the starting point of a number of boat trips. Spend the night in the Po Delta.

Day 6: A day at the beach.

Devote a day or more to relaxing and enjoying the crystalline waters of the seven lidos on the Ferrara coast: Volano, Naciones, Pomposa, Scacchi, Porto Garibaldi, Estensi and Spina are ideal to relax and enjoy yourself, especially with children as the waters are calm and shallow. Choosing among them depends on your particular tastes: Porto Garibaldi is an old fishing village which still conserves its traditions; Estensi is the ideal destination for the youngest members of your family, who are looking for the beach and a little entertainment and, of course, shopping; Spina, in the middle of a pinewood, is much more relaxed and peaceful, just like Pomposa and Scacchi, ideal for families; for aquatic sport enthusiasts such as windsurf, the best lido is without a doubt Volano. Spend the night at your accommodation in the Po Delta.

Day 7: Gran Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve.

Once the hunting grounds of the Estense Court, the Gran Bosco della Mesola is nowadays the only example of the vegetation, the woods and the fauna as it was centuries ago. It is easy to spot deer, bucks, badgers, tortoises, reptiles, etc. which are accustomed to human presence in the nature reserve. You can also visit Torre Abate and the impressive 16th century lock. You can visit the park on foot, by bike and even in a canoe. A unique experience in this natural oasis. Spend the night at your accommodation in the Po Delta. (Return trip of approx. 60 km).

Day 8: Return flight.

Today you have to go back to Venice for your return flight. Depending on the departure time, you can take advantage of the last few hours to finish viewing the region and you could even spend some time in the ever-enchanting Venice. Get to Venice airport with sufficient time to return the hire car and see to check-in and embarkation for your return flight. Arrival at your departure point. End of the trip and of our services.
