Day 1: Flight to Berlin.
At the stated time, flight to Berlin. Upon arrival, make your way to your chosen hotel in the city. Enjoy the rest of your first day to get a first impression of the capital of Germany. Night in Berlin.
Day 2: Berlin.
You’ll have the whole day to discover Berlin, reliving 20th century European history in a completely new manner. You can visit the remains of the famous Wall, as well as the city’s old town (“Mitte”) with its charming buildings and gardens. We recommend buying the 48 or 72 hour Berlin WelcomeCard which includes all public transport and entry to many museums and tours. Night in Berlin.
Day 3: Berlin.
Another full day to discover the delights of Berlin. Why not visit one of the city’s amazing museums on the famous Museum Island, or maybe Charlottenburg castle. As well as museums and culture, Berlin is full of charming neighbourhoods and streets, particularly in the newly constructed areas around the Potsdamer Platz and alternative scene such as Kreuzberg. Night in Berlin.
Day 4: Berlin - Leipzig.
Pick up your hire car in the morning and make your way to Leipzig. On the way, we recommend visiting Potsdam, famous for its Sanssouci summer palace, the most spectacular building dating back from Prussian times. We also strongly recommend stopping off at the small town of Wörlitz where its famous “Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz” is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll spend the night in Leipzig, one of Saxony’s liveliest and most important cities. 200 km.
Day 5: Leipzig - Erfurt.
Spend the morning discovering Leipzig, the home of Bach, and its ancient city centre full of mediaeval history. Make sure to pop into its famous old shopping galleries. In the evening, make your way to Erfurt - one of the country’s most beautiful cities - where you’ll spend the night. Its city centre is full of charm and is perfect for taking a leisurely stroll - particularly on a summer evening where you can sit and eat out at one of its restaurants and terraces in the old town. 150 km.
Day 6: Erfurt - Dresden.
Spend the morning discovering the city’s old town - known as the “City of Towers”. At lunchtime it’s time to set off to the next destination. On your way to Dresden, we recommend stopping off at Weimar, the birthplace of German culture and the one-time home of Goethe and Schiller. This city will give you a real insight into the heart of Germany. Night in Dresden. 230 km.
Day 7: Dresden - Berlin.
Spend the day discovering Dresden, the German city with the most monuments and sometimes referred to as the Florence on the Elbe. Don’t miss its most famous buildings: the Semper Oper, Zwinger or Frauenkirche church. In the evening, on your way back to Berlin, why not stop off at one or more of the picturesque little castles along the Elbe such as Moritzburg with its unique architecture and stunning location next to the river. Night in Berlin. 200 km.
Day 8: Return flight from Berlin.
Free time to finish looking around the city before returning your hire car at the airport. Check in and take your flight back to your airport of departure. Arrival and end of the trip.
